Integrate a VCR or DVD Recorder into the Cable DVR Set Up

    • 1). Leave the coaxial cable coming from the cable wall outlet, connected to the cable DVR's RF "Cable" input nodule, in place. This cable carries the main TV signal.

    • 2). Insert one end of the red AV cable into the DVR's red AV "out" jack that is typically marked "Audio R." Insert one end of the white AV cable into the DVR's white AV "out" jack that is typically marked "Audio L." Insert one end of the yellow AV cable into the DVR's yellow AV "out" jack that is typically marked "Video."

    • 3). Connect the other end of each AV cable from Step 2 into the matching colored AV "in" jack on the back of the DVD recorder or VCR.

    • 4). Plug one end of each cable, in the remaining set of AV cables, into the color corresponding AV "out" jack on the rear panel of the DVD recorder or VCR. Connect the other end of each cable to the TV set's corresponding AV "in" jack.

    • 5). Leave any other cable connections that were already in place alone. For example, if there is an HDMI or coaxial cable connecting the DVR to the TV, do not disconnect these connections.

    Prepare for Recording

    • 1). Turn on the TV, DVR, and DVD recorder or VCR.

    • 2). Use the "Input" or "Source" button on the TV remote to change its video input setting to AV.

    • 3). Use the "Input" or "Source" button on the DVD recorder or VCR remote to change its video input setting to AV.

Copy DVR Recording to DVD Disc or VHS Tape

    • 1). Insert a blank DVD or tape into the DVD recorder or VCR.

    • 2). Open the DVR's play list. Generally this is accomplished by pressing "List" on the DVR's remote control.

    • 3). Use the arrow buttons on the DVR's remote control to highlight the recording you want to transfer to DVD or tape. Press "Select." Then highlight the "Play" option.

    • 4). Press "Record" on the DVD recorder or VCR followed immediately by "Select" on the DVR remote to initiate playback of the video from the DVR.

    • 5). Push "Stop" on the DVD recorder or VCR at the end of the recording. If you archived the DVR recording on a DVD disc, open the DVD recorder's main menu display. Locate and select the "Finalize" disc option.
